Associate Professor of Trumpet John Adler joined the faculty at the University of Northern Colorado in 2010. Dr. Adler has an established national reputation as a performer, educator, and composer of trumpet music in various mediums. His diverse performance resume includes recitals, masterclasses, and performances in classical and jazz settings all across the country including conferences of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) and College Music Society.

I’ll be performing my composition along with the Saint Benedict/Saint John’s Wind Ensemble directed by Dr. Justin Zanchuk. The solo part calls for C trumpet, Flugelhorn, Bb trumpet, and piccolo trumpet, and also uses electronics. The piece also contains improvisation for both the soloist and ensemble members. On September 25th at 7:30pm, I’ll be playing Marcello’s Concerto in C Minor (originally for Oboe) with UNC’s Symphony Orchestra. The concert is the ensemble’s first ever performance in UNC’s new performance hall and is located in the Campus Commons. There should be a live stream available, more details closer to the performance!
